Green Hub Youth Worker

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join YMCA Derbyshire.

YMCA Derbyshire is looking for a qualified Youth Worker for an exciting opportunity to be part of the new Green hub project at the Wilmorton Community Gardens. The role is to empower and inspire young people 11-21 years old to achieve their potential by encouraging and supporting them to build upon their strengths and talents with a particular focus on activities within the outdoor environment.

You will be required to design and deliver a programme of activities to develop young people’s horticulture, countryside management, and practical work skills to encourage them to live healthy, independent lives in the future.

Your ability to build positive and mutually beneficial relationships with partner agencies and with the local community will be key to the project’s success, benefiting the young people of Derby.

Working Pattern: 35 hours per week (Minimum 3 evenings per week and some weekend work) – Temporary until 31st March 2026

About you

• You must be a Fully Qualified Youth Worker or have relevant experience and be willing to work towards a youth work qualification.
• Knowledge and an understanding of the issues faced by young people experiencing disadvantage and the complexity of their needs.
• Knowledge of horticulture, countryside management and other outdoor activities.
• To record information and produce written reports to a good standard.
