Youth Work – YMCA Response to Today’s Government Announcement

“We warmly welcome the Government’s commitment to fund 1,000 new youth worker roles. At a time when too many young people are facing barriers to education, employment and training, this significant investment recognises the vital role youth work plays in helping young people build confidence, develop skills and access opportunities.

“For many years YMCA has called for sustained investment in youth services, warning that repeated funding cuts have left too many young people without access to the trusted adults, safe spaces and the support they need to thrive.

“These new roles are an important step towards rebuilding the youth support infrastructure that young people deserve. We look forward to working with Government and partners across the sector to ensure this investment reaches the young people who need it most and helps create pathways into education, employment and brighter futures.”
