New Report Reveals Alarming Levels of Porn Exposure and Sexual Harassment Among Children

Dignify launches national call to action following live feature on Good Morning Britain

A powerful new report from Dignify, launched today on Good Morning Britain, has uncovered shocking statistics about children’s experiences with pornography and sexual harassment — prompting urgent calls for action from parents, educators, and policymakers.

Surveying 7,748 children aged 13–18 across the UK, Dignify’s latest research reveals that:

  • 32% of children have seen pornography, with some as young as primary school age.
  • 86% of those who view porn once go on to seek it out again, and 27% of repeat viewers report developing a porn habit or addiction.
  • 29% have acted out what they’ve seen in porn, and 23% have received a nude image or video.
  • Only 26% would tell their school if they experienced sexual harassment.

These findings paint a stark picture: children are being routinely exposed to harmful content — often at home, on their phones — and many feel unsupported by schools in dealing with sexually harmful behaviour.

Dignify’s strategy focuses on:

  • Preventing access to online porn for under-18s
  • Supporting parents, carers, teachers, and youth workers with tools and training
  • Improving Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and school responses to harassment

Dignify, part of One YMCA, calls on the public and professionals to join the movement for change by exploring resources and getting involved at www.dignify.org.
