To support that belief, we provide nursery environments that enable the children in our nursery care to explore, inquire, be curious and question what they’re learning with us.
We believe our role is to provide a supportive and engaging environment in which every child can flourish and learn at their own pace and in their own individual way.
To help them do that we provide them with a warm, happy, safe, and stimulating day care experience where they can feel safe, secure and valued.

Our Christian values are woven throughout the curriculum. We share bible stories, songs and celebrate Christian festivals such as Christmas, Easter and Harvest.
We are inclusive and acknowledge, share and learn about the cultures, faith festivals and beliefs of all the children in our care. We believe that this gives our children the best opportunity to develop to their full potential in body, mind and spirit enabling them to belong, contribute and thrive.
The focus of our curriculum is on the children in our care, with a curriculum based on our six pillars for learning: Mind, Body, Spirit, Belong, Contribute and Thrive.
Mind: We highlight the importance of children’s mental health, ensuring that they can say ‘no’; to ask questions; to make healthy choices; to build relationships with their peers; to have respect for each other and be proud of themselves and of their identity.
Body: When it comes to looking after our bodies, we’re putting healthy choices, a healthy diet and exercise at the heart of our curriculum.
Spirit: We’re a Christian organisation, but we’re also about everybody’s religion, faith and beliefs, and that means we’re part of something bigger outside of nursery and home.
Belong: We want children to feel they really belong here. Knowing they’re listened to and their voice is valued is also important to us.
Contribute: We’re raising aspirations for these children. They contribute to their learning and the planning. They all have a responsibility to help make the cogs of the nursery turn, which helps prepare them for later on in life.
Thrive: Our big aspiration is that people will know that these are YMCA children because they are polite and caring, and they have a really positive attitude to learning and other people.
The YMCA Nursery curriculum was authored by YMCA Black Country.
Working families can get up to £500 tax-free every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each child to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).
For every £8 you pay into your online account, the government will pay in £2. This means you can get up to £2,000 per year for each child towards the cost of childcare (or up to £4,000 per year if your child is disabled).
This money can then be used to pay for approved childcare, such as a childminder, nursery, nannie, after school or holiday clubs.
The childcare provider must also be signed up to the scheme before you can pay them and benefit from Tax-Free Childcare. Please check with your provider to see if they’ve signed up.
You can find more information on the eligibility criteria at GOV.UK.
