YMCA response to Government announcement of £1 billion deal to fund 200,000 apprentice jobs for young people

YMCA response to Government announcement of £1 billion deal to fund 200,000 apprentice jobs for young people

Denise Hatton, Chief Executive, YMCA England & Wales said:

“YMCA welcomes today’s announcement and encouragement from Government to take on more young people who have experienced unemployment. While this is only one part of a wider problem when it comes to barriers and disincentives facing so many young people today, it is a significant step in ensuring they are properly invested in to achieve their goals.”

“As a charity working with hundreds of thousands of young people each year, we know how vital it is to break down these barriers to educational success and employment opportunities, and the changes that can come from entering meaningful employment.”

“We echo Minster McFadden’s sentiment in the role work plays in providing a sense of pride, purpose and identity, and look forward to monitoring the impact of this investment on young people’s educational and employment opportunities.”
